About
Our Playful Exploration
This documentary is not only about cats. It’s also, of course, about us. It’s about how we become proficient at unlearning, how we come to terms with learned fears, and how we can use our capacity for compassion in order to relearn how we relate to what we once feared. Through illuminating the ordinary lives of extraordinary cats, The Curse That Never Was challenges us to reevaluate our own misconceptions.
Unveiling Modern Superstitions
The Curse That Never Was is an introspective documentary that examines the role of our perceptions in how we understand the world around us, and how those perceptions often find expression in prejudices, fears, or misinterpretations. The documentary uses the age-old superstition of black cats as a symbolic metaphor in exploring the lives of people whose homes share a common spirit with the misunderstood black cats. Their stories help us understand how myths affect human behavior, how myths can be debunked by empathy, awareness, and love.
